Kitz: Miller Wins U.S.-Record 28th
KITZBUEHEL, Austria (Jan. 20) - Bode Miller (Bretton Woods, NH) won a World Cup combined Sunday, making him the most successful U.S. ski racer with 28 World Cup victories - one more than three-time overall champion Phil Mahre. He also moved into second place in the overall standings. Ted Ligety (Park City,
UT) was fifth in the combined and is sixth overall.
The win, based on his tie-for-second Saturday in the 68th Hahnenkamm downhill and 14th Sunday in a slalom, is Miller's first combined triumph in four years. His last win also came at Kitzbuehel.

Mancuso 2nd in SG, Up to 3rd Overall
CORTINA D'AMPEZZO, Italy (Jan. 20) - Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) ignored tricky visibility to finish second Sunday in a World Cup super G and vaulted into third place overall in the World Cup standings. Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) was fifth and held onto her No. 2 spot in the standings.
Mancuso: flat light was no problem "Really, it didn't bother me that much," Mancuso said. "I love Cortina, and I really love the super G. We had flat light yesterday [in downhill] and the day before in training, so maybe I just got used to it."
Mancuso was seventh Friday as Vonn won the downhill. Coach Patrick Riml said if she cleaned up a couple of slight mistakes, she would be on Sunday's podium. "I re-centered. I went back to basics. In super G, it's all about charging," she said.
